Week 9 check-in / week 10 goals

The final week is upon us! Set your final goals, and reflect on your progress through this challenge. What were your initial goals? Did they change? Do you feel you were successful? Remember that although these past 10 weeks have been important, it's always the 10 coming weeks (or more than that, hopefully) that matter the most. :)

Keep going!

Week 8 check-in / week 9 goals

How are you doing? Are you closing in on the goals you set for this challenge? This is the time to reflect on why you have succeeded in your challenge, or why you didn't succeed if that is the case. Make a plan for the two last weeks, make sure to keep yourself going. Here is one of the motivational pictures used in this challenge earlier, it's so good it can be recycled:

This week will not have a mini-challenge, as barely anyone participate in them. It seems fair for me not to spend my time on making them, when they are not really used. :)

Week 8 mini-challenge!

Week 8's mini challenge is about solidifying your progress through the challenge, and making sure you carry it with you after the challenge is completed. You are going to have to define yourself what your focus will be, but I will show you mine as an example.

I have made this sheet/calendar:

35 days of good eating
You can grab that one, or make one of your own. It has to be in writing, no winging it by your gut. You can make it a 15 day challenge, about food, about exercise, about water intake.. Whatever YOU want to focus on. The system goes like this: I award myself with a smiley face if I have done well that day. Now as you know, all days aren't the same. What constitutes a smiley face one day, might not give one the next day. Such as tomorrow, May 17th, that is the Norwegian National Day, and I will allow myself an ice cream - and still have a smiley face. If I had the ice cream today, I would not. You get how it goes.

Write a post about the length of your "focus period", what system you have chosen to monitor yourself (food journal, calendar, sheet etc), and what you choose to focus on. You can do one thing, or more. You choose!

Week 7 mini-challenge

"The mini-challenge for week seven is to write a post to yourself. Be it your former self, or your future self. The idea is to help yourself never go back to where you came from, to underline how you have changed, and how your life has changed. Or the opposite, how you want it to change. There will be another link-up for that post, but I wanted to give you guys some time to think about it. :)"

Now that time has come! Please link up with your posts here :)

Week Six Check In/ Week Seven Goals

First let me apologize for forgetting to post the mini-challenge for this week. It completely slipped my mind, and I am sorry. :)

Now let us all share how week 6 has been. Any issues? Any NSVs? How are you all holding up? Are you steadily reaching your goals?

Week Five Check In/ Week Six Goals

How have you all been doing? We're over half way in this challenge, and I sincerely hope that you are all seing some results! As I was looking for this week's motivational picture/quote/video, it hit me - who is better than you guys on that topic! So when writing about your goals for week six, please include your #1 motivational "something". Be it a picture, link, video, quote, whatever. Sharing motivation is a real gift, and I have had so many experiences where a picture really speaks to me, and keeps me going!

The mini challenge will be posted mid-week! :)

Week Four Check In/ Week Five Goals

Link up your progress from Week Four and your goals for Week Five here. How did it go? Does spring make it easier to reach our weight loss goals? Does it change your exercise routines? Try setting a goal for week five that will really make you have to reach out of your comfort zone, and share why this is a challenging goal for you. Are you pushing yourself to exhaustion, or are you just uncomfortable?

As for this week's mini-challenge, so few people participated in last week's that I want to recycle it. So the mini-challenge stands, it's still about paying it forward, and you can find it in the previous post (use that linkup for the mini-challenge post). I think more than 6 people are able to pay it forward!!

Week 4 mini-challenge!

Week 4's challenge is going to be slightly ....different. Hope you like it!

One good deed might not seem like much, but if everyone did something good for someone else, then the cycle of generosity and kindness can spark us to become better people.

Are you thinking - how does this relate to weight loss? Well, doesn't it relate to everything we do? Kindness, compassion, caring - it's certainly not going to hinder weight loss. Paying it forward helps not only the ones we are doing it to/for, but helps us feel good about ourselves. Be creative. Paying it forward can be tied to someone else's weight loss, and in the next step thus help you in progressing on your own - or even together. Everything is tied together. We're not just fat people trying to get thin, we are people. People who are a part of something bigger than ourselves. Have you ever felt obsessed about the scale, your food, the "regime"? This is a way to lift our eyes. Shape the challenge however you see fit, but make sure to pay it forward.

Write a post about your thoughts on this of challenge, and how you have paid it forward!

Week Three Check In/ Week Four Goals

How did this week go? Did you reach your goals? Why did you succeed? Why did you not? Did you stand in your own way, or did you enable yourself to make good choices? Here is a motivational quote for week four! Please share your goals in the linkup below!

PS! The weekly mini-challenge will follow in a different post, stay tuned. :-)

Week 3 mini-challenge!

This week's mini challenge is about support, and the accountability we can find in a great support system. Being a part of a challenge means both offering and receiving support. Thus, this week's challenge is to visit all the other participants in the challenge! When you've done this, or at least started, write a post sharing some of the posts and/or blogs that stood out to you, or any thoughts you had while doing your rounds. Link up using the linky (will be added shortly, there are some technical difficulties with the linky at the moment). :)

Sounds daunting? It might be, but this is what it's all about. We strongly encourage those of you that use word verification on your blog to consider turning it off. With so many participants it slows down the visiting pace terribly. :-)

Week Two Check In/ Week Three Goals

How was Week Two?
I hope that everyone is having/has had a wonderful easter!

I have been making an effort to stop off at a lot of your blogs each week, but we have so many challengers, it would take days. (I am excited we have so many challengers!!) So, this week's mini challenge is going to be a little different, and.. it actually won't show up on this blog until Wednesday. So, make sure to check back for it then.

Here's some exercise motivation for you this week-

So, I am ready to see everyone's goals for Week Three!

Remember, set up a post about last week, if you met your goals, how it went, and be sure to tell us your goals for next week! :)
If you need an example, go here..

Week One Check In/ Week Two Goals

Hi, there! :)

How was your first week? Did you meet your goals? Did you fall short of some?
If you did, don't worry, it is all a part of the process.

Please create your post with how week one went, how your mini challenge went, and your new goals for week two. Then, come back here and add your link to the linky below.
For an example of what to post, feel free to view my post at Sarah Is Getting Fit

Also, the mini challenge for Week Two:
Do a workout that you don't normally do, mix it up!
It is important to keep your body guessing, so having a large arsenal of calorie burning activities can be very helpful during weight loss. This can even help you avoid plateaus!

Good luck this week!

Challenge Week One! (link up)

Welcome to Week One of the Ready for Summer Challenge!
To start the challenge off, we want to encourage everyone to break your larger challenge goals down into bite-sized goals each week.
For example, if your goal is to lose 15 pounds over the whole challenge, your weight goal for week one might be to lose a pound and a half. :)

We will have a link up every Sunday for you to link to your blog post, including a check in for the previous week and your goals for the next one.

Remember, you can pick and choose the goals you want for the challenge, you can use some of them, one of them, or all of them. It's totally up to you, but we have four goal categories:

Weight Loss Goal
Non Scale Victory Goal
Nutrition Goal
Fitness/Exercise Goal

Each week, we will also have a mini challenge that you can participate in if you'd like.

Week One's Mini Challenge is to try a new vegetable, fruit, or other healthy dish of your choice, that you've never had before.

Feel free to get creative! Let us know what you tried at the end of the week!

A good site to get new recipes from is SkinnyTaste.com

So, below you can link up your goals for Week One!
For a better example of what to post about, feel free to check out mine and Maren's posts. :)

Setting goals for the challenge!

If you haven't signed up for this challenge, it's not too late! Leave a comment on this post saying you want to join, and then add a post with your goals on the link-up! :-)

It's time to set your goals for what you wish to achieve in this 10 week challenge. The idea is to pick one goal (or more) in these four categories:
  1. Weight loss
  2. NSV (Non-Scale Victory)
  3. Exercise
  4. Nutrition
Source

An example would be 10lbs for the weight loss category, a certain pants size for the NSV category, a distance put behind you in the exercise category and a set calorie range for the nutrition category. You all know how this goes. :) You have until the 26th of March to set your goals, write a post about it, and link up here. Then, on the 26th, we all weigh-in and off we go!

If you want to leave some goal areas open that's fine, you don't need to have a goal in each category. If you want to change your goal along the way, that is fine too. This challenge is all about you, and all of us coming together, supporting each other towards these goals. The only responsibility that comes with this challenge is supporting the other participants - if we all do our best at that, it will be an amazing challenge!

Details for the Ready For Summer Challenge!

This challenge starts Monday 26th of March, and lasts until June 3rd. That's 10 weeks of challenge fun for you!

If you choose to participate, we will have four basic goal categories:
    • weight loss goal
    • non-scale goal
    • exercise goal
    • nutrition goal

You can set one or more goals for all of these categories, or pick and choose. The challenge will start off by everyone posting their goals and linking them up here. This will happen around the 26th of March. Then each week we will host a link-up where you can post your results for the week and your goals for the next. Typical challenge stuff. You can start thinking about what kind of goals you want to set, and what is realistic for you to accomplish in 10 weeks. We will have weekly mini-challenges, these are completely voluntary!

Here is what you do to join in:
    • Sign up with a comment on this post! We will add your blog to the challenge blog roll.
    • Add the icon below to your blog, if you haven't already.
    • Write a post about joining, and encourage others to do the same!
